Most oven breakdowns we attend were preventable. Grease on a sensor, a flattened door seal, a self-clean cycle run at the worst moment — small habits decide whether your oven lasts eight years or eighteen. Here is the checklist our technicians hand to every customer.
Check the door seal every month
Close the door on a banknote and try to pull it out. If it slides freely, the seal is letting heat escape — your element works overtime and baking goes uneven. Seals are inexpensive and take minutes to replace.
Go easy on self-clean cycles
Pyrolytic cleaning runs the oven hotter than any cooking mode. Used occasionally it is fine; used monthly it stresses control boards and door locks. Wipe spills after each use and self-clean at most a few times a year.
Calibrate with an oven thermometer
- Place a thermometer centre-shelf and heat to 180°C for twenty minutes.
- A steady 10°C+ gap means the thermostat is drifting — call us.
- Never trust the display alone; sensors fail before elements do.
